DR ANNE HENCHMAN BDS (SYD) HONS

I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. My first job was as a dental officer at Westmead Hospital and then I worked for 5 years in private practice in Lane Cove before moving to Cowra, where I owned and ran a practice for 14 years with my husband Juan Varela. In 2015 we left the Cowra Community, and moved to Canberra hoping our three children could progress through school to university without having to leave home. After moving to Canberra, I worked at Maven Dental Kingston until we opened our new practice.

I have been a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) since 1994 and I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

My focus is on patient centred dentistry, prioritising communication and empathy. Prevention and patient education are key to maintaining good oral health and I incorporate this into all my patients’ treatment plans with the central goal to provide the best possible long-term results.

I am experienced in working with and relating to patients of all ages, striving to ensure that patients are left feeling comfortable and confident that they understand their dental treatment and the options available to them. I focus on providing evidence based dental treatment with reliable outcomes.

In my spare time I love to swim and can often be found gardening or jogging with my dog.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy playing tennis.

I also speak Spanish.
